QUISPAMSIS, NB, December 20, 2013 - The Saint John Vitos edged the Miramichi Rivermen 4-3 Friday night to break the tie for first place in the NB-PEI Major Midget Hockey League. The Vitos are now two points ahead of the Rivermen.

The Rivermen took first blood when Eddie Banville got his first of two goals in the opening 20 minutes of the game just over five minutes into the game. And although the Vitos came bacxk to knot the score on a goal by Jean-Michel LeBlanc about nine minutes later, Banville scored again before the buzzer sent the teams to the dressing room with Miramichi holding a 2-1 lead.

It was juist the other way around in the second with the Vitos scoring a pair and Miramichi a single, but the Rivermen did hold a lead of 3-1 before Saint John scored their pair. Tristan Young put his team up by a pair early in the second but Sam King came back with a pair for the home team before the buzzer went, leaving the game knotted a three all.

At 6:28 of the third Logan Saunders scored on a power play to put the Vitos ahead for the first time in the game and they held on through the remaining 13 plus minutes to win.
Isaac McGraw and Saunders each had a pair of assists for the Vitos with Adam Downey, Jeremy Holmes and J.M. LeBlanc each gathering singletons.

Alex Beaulieu had a pair of assists for the Rivermen with Dawson Warman and Banville picking up singles.

Kyle Porter madew 23 saves for the win in net while Tanner Somers took the loss making 37 saves.
