QUISPMASIS, NB, December 28, 2012 - Three goals in the third period was the difference in the game as the Saint John Vitos dropped the Charlottetown Islanders 5-2 in NB-PEI Major Midget hockey action Friday night with Logan Saunders leading the way with a pair of goals.

IMG_4952-6 IMG_5071-52 IMG_5121-84 The Vitos will be in Moncton tomorrow night (Saturday) to face the Moncton Flyers at 7:30pm at the Red Ball Internet Centre and the Islanders will return to home base to finish their Christmas break. Their next game is January 4 when they return to NB to play the Miramichi Rivermen at 8:00pm at the LBA.

Saunders got the Vitos off to a start just over three minutes into the game but before the first 20 minutes were over the Islanders had tied things up with a goal by Damon MacDonald assisted by Bradley Jenkins and Alex Gallant.

Saunders got the only goal of the second to up the score to 2-1. He was assisted on both goals by Damian Gallant and Curtis Hastings.

Tyler Johnson made it a 3-1 game in the third from Riley Craft and Ryan Dunfield. But the Islanders weren’t through yet and they made things interesting when Jonathan Larter got an unassisted effort to make it a 3-2 game.

However the Vitos surged back with a pair. The first by Matthew Gray from Jean-Michel LeBlanc and Nick Phillips and then capped it off with a counter by Craft from Gallant.
