SAINT JOHN, NB, December 20, 2012 – Halifax, NS, native Jacob Brennan stopped all 29 shots he faced to lead the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to a 3-0 shutout of the Saint John Sea Dogs Thursday night a Harbour Station. It was the first time that the Sea Dogs had been shutout in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action at Harbour Station since March 2007.

It was the first shutout of the season for the 18 year-old netminder and the third of his two season plus QMJHL career.

The one bright light for the 2,892 fans present at Harbour Station was the play of Sea Dogs goaltender Sebastien Auger who stopped 42 of 45 in the loss, several of them spectacular as the Titan dominated the play at times especially when the Sea Dogs went through bouts of undisciplined play in the second and third periods.

With the loss the Sea Dogs dropped to 16-18-0-0 while Acadie-Bathurst improved to 13-19-4-1.

Alec Jon Banville, Zach O’Brien and Matthew Bissonette scored for the Titan.

After a first half of the first period that saw the Sea Dogs outshot 14-4 by the Titan, The Sea Dogs had some sustained pressure deep in the Bathurst zone. The play was started as Steven Anderson had a break in on Brennan and had a great second chance opportunity as well, but six-foot Brennan stood tall.

Shots were 18-8 for Bathurst at the end of the scoreless first.

Bathurst drew first blood with the man advantage at 9:16 of the second as Banville beat Auger. O’Brien then made it 2-0 with a shorthanded marker at 11:16.

The second period ended with a 2-0 Bathurst lead as the shots were even at 11 apiece.

Auger stole the show in the third period, where it seemed like every save was a big save. He let in one goal by Bissonnette shortly before the halfway point at 8:56, but the goal was a tip directly in front of the net. Auger was great during the Titan’s two-man advantage during most of the final six minutes of play.

Sea Dogs finish off pre-Christmas play Friday night when the Halifax Mooseheads come to town for game two of the double-header. Tickets are available at the Harbour Station box office, online at tickets.harbourstation.ca or by calling 657-1234.

The Titan return home to host the PEI Rocket in their final pre-holiday game.
