MATT GRAY LEADS VITOS TO WIN

IMG_8840 QUISPAMSIS, NB, November 23, 2012 - The Saint John Vitos, led by Matthew Gray, defeated the Miramichi Rivermen 5-1 in NB-PEI Major Midget hockey action Friday night. The Vitos will be in Cornwall tomorrow night to play the Thunder. The Rivermen will visit Moncton Flyers Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm

Although the Rivermen struck early in the first on a goal by Francis Theriault at the 5:21 mark, it was all Vitos from that point on and the home team led 2-1 after the gfirst and 4-1 after the second.

Matt Gray had a pair of goals to lead the Vitos. He scored the first unassisted to tie up the game and scored the final one of the game past the midway mark of the third, assisted by Jean-Michel LeBlanmc and Riley Craft.
IMG_8798 Thomas Leonard scored what turned out to be the winning goal with just over a minute left in the first. LeBlanc and Curtis Hastings scored power play goals in the second. Matt McInnis and Riley Craft both picked up a pair of assists, Tyler Gunn and Andrew Dempsey had single helpers.
IMG_8806 Alex Miller made 18 saves in the win. Antoine Landry took the loss in net despite kicking out 37 of the 42 shots that came at him.
